Child Gymnastics

Gymnastics- child gymnastics and its various aspects

Gymnastics can also be regarded as one of the best form of workouts; apart from being a great sport. Child gymnastics is the beginner’s form of gymnastics where children first learn the basics of gymnastics. Parents who are enrolling their kids into gymnast classes have two primary motives- make the child fit through rigorous physical training or make them into professional gymnasts in the future. Choosing gymnastics as a career is an option but child gymnastics is also a way of keeping children fit. Apart from physical fitness, child gymnastics also has several other good sides to it. Child gymnastics helps in building up the self confidence of children and in particular those children who are suffering from low self esteem. Once a person’s confidence level is boosted, he would be focused in his work. In the same manner child gymnasts become very focused and disciplined due to the rigorous training which they undergo. This is one important utility of child gymnastics.

Finding the right gymnasium for gymnastics training is very difficult and hence parents should consider a few factors before enrolling a child to a particular gym. The gymnasium should be having a set of amenities which would be extremely important for the proper training of the children. Children training inside a gymnasium must be taken care of and hence the trainer to trainee ratio must low or else the training cannot be imparted properly. Proper training can be imparted if the training facility is well lit and spacious. The training facilities must also be well padded or else the children might face injuries while practicing or training.

A doctor and first aid facilities is also mandatory since it would help in treating injured children on time. Basic training and exercising equipment should be placed inside the training area so that the junior gymnasts can get a full blown training course. The training facility should also have higher level training facilities and skill based training so that there would be scope for specialized training for the promising athletes.

Nutrition is very important for any child gymnast and proper diet and exercise regime needs to be followed to maintain the overall body balance. Body balance is extremely important in gymnastics since the entire sports based on acrobatics and body movements; each of which requires tremendous balance.

Nutrition can be derived only when the person is following a proper planned diet. Balanced diet includes a diet which would suffice the basic nutritional requirements of a gymnast. A gymnast needs lots of carbohydrates which would be low in fat though. Strong muscle buildup is also needed since an acrobat relies upon his muscles to deliver the power packed performances.

The nutritional needs must be fulfilled with the help of diet pyramids and a child gymnast’s diet pyramid would consist of proteins and carbohydrates. Least amount of fat must be there inside the food stuff consumed. Care must be taken to ensure that the children do not suffer from withdrawal from food stuff. This phenomenon which is noticed in child athletes; they might become obsessed with their performance and might push their bodies to the limits. Anorexia is seen in female athletes and child athletes too since they starve in order to lose extra fat ad stay fit.

This performance obsession can give poor results in the long run. Poor muscle development and poor bone development may occur in case the child gymnasts do no go for the proper diet. Proper diet would involve foodstuff which would give the necessary amount of nutrition along with the right amount of energy. Energy levels must be kept high particularly for sports like gymnastics.
